Carmen M. Gigliotti, 82, of Cabondale, died Saturday, January 26th at the Carbondale Nursing Center under the care of Hospice of the Sacred Heart. His wife is Bernice Coccia Gigliotti.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Angelo and Catherine Chellino Gigliotti, he was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. He was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and the University of Scranton. While attending the University of Scranton, he entered the ROTC program, achieving the rank of Captain in the US Army. Carmen was a member of the Scranton Preparatory School faculty for 37 years, where he enjoyed his career and his acquaintances and friends. He had a great devotion to St. Ann, attending the yearly novena and mass regularly. Carmen was an avid golfer and a member of the Elkview County Club for many years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and traveling for work, representing Scranton Prep.
Bernice would like to thank the staff and nurses of Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the Carbondale Nursing Center for the compassionate care given to Carmen.
Also surviving are a brother: Angelo, Carbondale; two sister-in-laws: Ann Gigliott and Louise Coccia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Samuel Gigliott; and a sister-in-law: Charlotte Tomassoni.
The funeral will be Friday, February 1st with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Mausoleum, Finch Hill. Friends may call Friday at the church from 10 am until mass time. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
