Eugene Murphy Obituary

Eugene W. Murphy, 64, of Jermyn, died Wednesday December 5th at home following an illness.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Thomas and Margaret Adams Murphy, he was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.  Prior to retirement, he was employed as a material handler for Simona Laminations, Archbald.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 328, Archbald.  He was enjoyed Randy Travis and was an avid New York Yankees and San Francisco 49ers fan.  Eugene was a stubborn Irishman with a heart of gold.

Surviving are three daughters: Elizabeth Murphy and Sarah Durst, both of Jessup; Margaret Murphy, Jermyn; three sons: Eugene Murphy, Archbald; Garrett Murphy and James Durst, both of Carbondale; 13 grandchildren; a sister: Kathy Teeple, Carbondale; a brother: Thomas Murphy, New Jersey; his former wife and caregiver, Deborah Murphy, Archbald; his ex-wife: Christina Murphy, Simpson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Edward and Charles.

The funeral will be Monday, December 10th in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with services at 10 am by the Rev. Jack Munley.  Interment will follow in Saint Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Archbald.  Friends may call Sunday, from 4 to 7  pm.
