Angeline Svecz, 92, of Herrick Twp., died Friday June 27th at Allied Services Hospice, Scranton.  She was the widow of Joseph Svecz, Sr., who died February 14, 2012; the couple were married for 61 years.

Born in Forest City, daughter of the late Valentine and Frances Tedesco Swegel, she was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City.  She was a graduate of Forest City High School and had been employed as a bookkeeper for the former Big Chief Market, Forest City before staying home to raise her family. She was a loving mother but most of all adored her grandchildren.  She loved cooking for the crew, Sunday picnics at the family pond, and taking trips to the casino.  She was a member of the Forest City Historical Society, and served Herrick Township as a former member of the Planning Commission and Township Auditor.

Surviving are two sons: Joseph Svecz and David Svecz, both of Union Dale; three daughters: Karen Vergari and husband Paul, Union Dale; Lori Grecco, Pleasant Mount; Bobbi Jo Turner and her husband Trent, Clifford; 7 grandchildren: Lisa Vergari Boguski, Jennifer and Christopher Vergari, Kelly Svecz Shelp, Joseph Grecco, Alexis and Riley Turner; eight great grandchildren; two sisters: Fran Beers and Lucille Hans; a brother: Jim Swegel and wife Roseann; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Joseph Grecco; and five siblings: Valentine Swegel, Jr.; Marie Leonard; Rose Dunn; Annie Lang; and Theresa Jones.

The funeral will be Thursday July 3rd with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware Street, Forest City.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Forest City.
