Ann Horne, 81, of Carbondale, died Wednesday May 4th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She is survived by her husband, Robert Horne; the couple would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on May 14th.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Howard and Elizabeth Connor Wormuth, she was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Class of 1958, Carbondale. Prior to retirement, she was employed in the helmet department at the Gentex Corporation, Simpson, for 22 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo, going to the casino, dancing, and traveling.
The family would like to give a huge thanks to the doctors and nurses at Moses Taylor Hospital and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kindness and compassionate care. The family would also like to thank her caregiver, Christina Scarfo, who went above and beyond in her duties and has now become family.
Also surviving are three daughters: Ann Brownell, Tennessee; Laurie Horne, Carbondale; Teresa Carey and spouse Edward Bortree, Jermyn; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren (and one on the way, arriving in July); a brother: Robert Wormuth, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law: James Brownell and Sean Carey; a sister: Katherine Ferguson; four brothers: Edward, Richard, Howard, and Joseph Wormuth.
The funeral will be Monday May 9th from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call Sunday, from 4 to 7 pm.
