Anne Marie Turano Obituary

Anne Marie Turano, 75, of Carbondale, died Monday September 13th at the Regional Hospital of Scranton.  She was the widow of Michael J. Turano, who died February 17, 1996; the couple was married on October 23, 1971.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Harry and Etta Jay Lee, she was educated in Carbondale Schools.  She was a member of the Servant Church of the Abingtons.  Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Gentex Corporation, Simpson, where she worked side by side with her husband.  In her own words, she wanted to be remembered  as "a happy person who loved Jesus, children, and family".  She loved to crochet slippers and afghans for her family and friends. Many were blessed to receive her crocheted gifts and will cherish her handiwork.   She was an avid pro-life supporter.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Wayne Woodlands Manor for going above and beyond in their care for Anne Marie.

Surviving are a brother: Walter Lee, St. Louis, MO; two sisters: Lois Buckingham, Waymart; Martha Muta, Simpson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Harold, Ralph and Joseph Lee; four sisters: Alberta Lindstrom; Evelyn Gathany; Doris Collett; and Freeda Brunson.

The funeral will be Saturday, in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with services at 12 Noon by Pastor Daniel Miller.  Interment will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale.  Friends may call Saturday, from 10 am until service time.  The family asks that everyone kindly wear a mask to the funeral home in accordance with CDC guidelines.

To honor her love for children, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
