Anthony J. "Papa" Franchak, 81, of Simpson, died Thursday June 13th surrounded by his family at Dunmore Health Care.
Born in Simpson, Fell Twp., son of the late Veronica Franchak Sliva and Joseph Sliva, he attended Fell High School, Simpson. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale. He was a social member of the VFW Post 4712, Simpson. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a welder, spending his entire career with Grumman Olson, Mayfield.
The family would like to thank the staff at Dunmore Health Care and Home Health Care Professionals for their compassionate care, especially Judy from the Hospice Unit.
Surviving are two daughters: Melissa Dombroski and husband Stan, Carbondale; Carol Stoll and husband David, Sr., Greenfield Twp.; four grandchildren: Xander Dombroski; Breanna Dombroski; Justin Marsico; Brandon Stoll; five great grandchildren: Sebastian Shidagis; Quintin Marsico; Bentley Marsico; Westin Marsico; Aurora Stoll; his former wife: Ann Pittsman, Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson: David Stoll, Jr.; and one sister: Joann Gorel.
As per his request, private funeral services will be held. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
