Anthony A. Mussari, 75, of Mayfield, died Tuesday January 30th at Geisinger CMC, Scranton, after a brief illness.
Born in Jermyn, son of the late Joseph and Teresa Bianco Mussari, he was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. He was a graduate of Saint Rose High School, Carbondale. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, the American Legion Post 610, Mayfield, and the Carbondale Memorial Day Parade Committee. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a corrections officer for SCI Waymart. Anthony loved going to car shows with his classic cars. He was loved by all, especially his good friends Tom Bonacci, Ed Gill, Phil Andidora, and Paul Carachilo, who were always there for him no matter what. Anthony loved his family most of all.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Community Medical Center and the nurses and staff of the 400 Hall of the Carbondale Nursing Center for the care given to Tony.
Surviving are a son: Anthony Mussari and wife Kristen, Hickory, NC; a daughter: Jennifer Mussari, Carbondale; two grandchildren: Ava and Adriana Mussari; a sister JoAnn Mussari Rockwell and husband Dan, Carbondale; a brother: Joseph Mussari, Jermyn; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Frances Quinn; Carla Suchniak; and Julie Mussari.
The funeral will be Saturday February 3rd, from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment will follow in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call Friday, from 5 to 7 pm.
