Daughter of the late Samuel and Julia Zewan Schlasta, she was raised in South Gibson.  She attended school in South Gibson and graduated high school from Mountain View Joint Schools, Harford, in May of 1956.  Barbara’s first job out of high school was with Sperry Gyrosanpe, Glen Cove, Long Island, NY.  She trained at Weaver Airline Personnel School and graduated in 1957 and immediately took a position with Trans World Airlines (TWA) in February 1957.  Barbara loved her job with TWA and remained there until her retirement in October of 2000.  Her 43 years with TWA took her to reside and work in several areas of the United States, starting in Indianapolis, Indiana; Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles, California and St. Louis, Missouri.  Over her time at TWA Barbara held several positions including operations clerical, ticket counter agent, maintenance clerical, air freight agent and reservations agent.
Upon Barbara’s retirement she settled in Palm Coast, Florida to be near her sister Berniece where she built her dream home.  Barbara will be remembered as a kind loving woman who was generous to many people and organizations.
