Barbara S. Taylor

Barbara S. Taylor, 89, of Carbondale, entered into eternal rest on Monday August 24th at Aventura at Creekside, Carbondale.  She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Taylor; the couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last month.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Robert “Hard Coal” and Mary Dominica Tomaine Truman, she was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale.  She was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.  After graduation, she lived and worked in Philadelphia as a telephone operator for several years before returning to Carbondale with her husband.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed knitting and watching her grandchildren.

Also surviving are a son: Brian Taylor, Carbondale; two grandsons: Bobby Taylor and wife Tina, Scott Twp.; Eric Taylor and companion Garria Teel, Factoryville; a great grandson; Booker Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Robert, Francis, James, and Kenneth Truman; and three sisters: Alice Truman; Lorraine Nimmo; and Lois Truman.

The funeral will be Thursday, August 27th, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Entombment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Mausoleum, Finch Hill.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
