Beverly J. Durko, 88, of Union Dale, died Saturday April 30th at home. She was the widow of Stephen Durko, Sr., who died January 2, 2012.
Born in Union Dale, daughter of the late John and Daisy Mae Allen Shager, she was a member of the Union Dale Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder. She was a graduate of Pleasant Mount High School. She was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry and was a proud farmer’s wife, working hard with her husband to run the family’s dairy farm for many years. Beverly formerly served as the tax collector for Union Dale Borough. She was well known for her baking, especially her Cherry Squares; she also assisted the Union Dale Volunteer Fire Company over the years with their many fundraisers.
Surviving are a son: Greg Durko and wife Cheri, New Port Richey, FL and their children: Angela Kiker and husband Justin; Valerie Blasewitz and husband Bobby and their children Finn and Carter; Denise O’Malley and husband John; Kyle Durko and wife Kelly and their daughter Madeyln Mae; a son: Kevin Durko and wife Sherrie, Union Dale and their daughter, Angelica Durko and fiance Brian Hein and their children: Mylez, Landyn, and Anelah; a daughter: Ann Marie Durko DeArmond and husband Dave, Union Dale; and their daughter, Jessica Price and husband Jonathan and their children Jocelyn and Joelle; a daughter-in-law: Joanne Durko, Pensacola, FL, and her children: Seth Durko and companion Tiffany Trosper; and Holland Durko and fiance Dustin Raasch and their child Cooper Elias; a brother: Philip Shager and wife Lori, Courtland, NY; two sisters: Marlene Wallace, Forest City; and Mable Edge, Wilmington, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Stephen Durko, Jr.; two brothers: Jack and Clarence Shager; and a sister: Ruth Tighe.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 5th at 11:30 am in the Union Dale Cemetery. As per her request, there will be no public viewing. Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City.
