Obituary

Brianna Elyse Demchak, 30, of Duryea, died Monday March 28th at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after an illness.

Born in Scranton, daughter of Lisa Petorak Hedden and husband Brian, Waymart, and Brian Demchak and wife Melody, Forest City, she was a graduate of Forest City Regional High School, Class of 2009.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology from the University of the Sciences, Philadelphia, where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority.  She was currently employed as a Microbiology Specialist at Process Technology and Packaging, Scott Twp.

Brianna had a great passion for science, but especially for mushrooms, whether it was to go foraging for them in the woods, breeding and growing them, or drying and studying them.  She loved all animals, especially her two cats, Baby and Burger, whom she adored.  Brianna greatly enjoyed outdoor activities, whether it be fishing with her dad or camping with her mom.  She cherished her Secluded Acres family, and she loved Dozy Road.

The family would like to thank the ICU teams at Geisinger Wyoming Valley and at Geisinger in Danville for their kindness and for their compassionate care for Brianna.
