Calvin Cobb Obituary

Calvin W. Cobb, 73, of Burnwood, known as “The Beacon Brawler” passed away peacefully at Wayne Memorial Hospital on Friday November 3rd after a long battle with cancer.  Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Patty Skasko Cobb.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Howard and Esther Fisk Cobb, he was a member of the East Ararat Methodist Church.  He attended Susquehanna Community Schools.  Prior to his retirement, he was  employed at Westlake Plastics, Mayfield.  He was previously employed at the EJ Shoe Factory, Forest City, where he met his wife.  Calvin was a great hunter and fisherman, but his greatest passion was playing pool and hanging out with the group at Basils and The Beacon.  In his later years, he would meet the group at Arlo’s for coffee.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are a daughter: Cindy Cobb Ventre and husband Lenny; a son: Tony Cobb; grandsons: Anthony Cobb and fiancée Harlee Burns; Corey Cobb; a brother William Cobb and wife Bonnlyn; and a sister: Sharon Cobb; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister: Sandra Cordner.

The funeral will be Saturday November 18th in the East Ararat Methodist Church with services at 11 am.  Friends may call at the church from 10 am until service time.  Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
