Catherine Moore Penska Obituary

Catherine E. Moore Penska, R.N., 79, of Eynon, died Sunday January 22nd at the Regional Hospital of Scranton.  She was the widow of Joseph A. Penska, Sr., who died February 20, 2010

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late James and Mary Wengrzynek Moore, she was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in New Jersey.  She and her husband lived in New Jersey for many years, before moving to White Haven.  After Joe’s death, she moved to Eynon to be closer to her siblings.

Surviving are a son Joseph A. Penska, Jr., Ridgefield, NJ; six sisters: Elizabeth Loughney, Mayfield; Barbara Price, Clarks Summit; Margaret McDonald, Virginia; Patricia Resine and husband John, Delaware; Ann Ryan, Carbondale; Terry Talarico and husband Anthony, Carbondale; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Monnie and Alice Moore; Jean Smith; three brothers: James J. Moore, who passed way the day before his sister on January 21st; Joseph and Francis Moore.

The funeral, celebrated by her nephew Rev. James Price, CP, will be held Friday, February 3rd at 12:30 pm with committal services and interment in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill, along with her brother Jim.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
