It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claire Ann Wood on September 27th, 2024, at the age of 83 after a long and fulfilling life. Claire, a cherished woman that was known for her kind, loving, caring and humorous personality, was born to Richard and Mabel Dahlke Bloedel on August 28, 1941, in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.

Claire was a graduate of Ripon High School, Class of 1959, where she was crowned Prom Queen. Claire had met the love of her life and her beloved husband, Harold Wood of 25 years, through a blind date that had been arranged by a mutual friend. They went on to have 3 children, Brian, Paige and Susan.

After bearing children, Claire had worked for the Employment Development Department where she was an Accounts Payable Clerk. In 2000, Claire retired and spent her time golfing, playing bingo, creating sequence calendars, reading books by Stephan King, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are a brother: Robert Bloedel; Daughters: Paige Melvin & Susan Wood; Grandchildren: Matthew Thompson, Casey Walker, Justin Patterson, Shane Patterson, Ronny Patterson, Anthony Melvin, Logan Walker; and Great Grandchildren: Carter Lucas and Camilla Lucas.

Claire was preceded in death by her mother and father: Mabel & Richard; a sister: Donna; a son: Brian; a daughter in-law: Deb; a grandson: Jake; and a great grandson: Cameron.

As per her request, private funeral services were held.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
