Clyde E. Sikorski, 73, of Forest City, died Tuesday evening, March 16th at home. His wife is the former Kathleen Burke.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Eugene and Alice Nicolas Sikorski, he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Wayne Community College, Goldsboro, NC, where he earned his Associates Degree in Fish and Wildlife Management. Clyde was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, having served in the Fire Department Crash Rescue at Loring Air Force Base and Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base in Thailand. He later served as a draftsman, graduating from NCO Leadership School and raising to the rank of Staff Sergeant before retiring from the Air Force. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 524, Forest City and the VFW Post 4712, Simpson. Prior to his retirement, Clyde was employed by the Human Resource Center, Honesdale, serving as the manager of the center’s Vandling house. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 16, Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, Scranton, where he became Eagle Scout #98 in 1963. He was a former member of the Machek Oil Company Bowling Team, Forest City. Clyde loved to meet friends at Butch’s Bar in Browndale. He was an avid New York Giants and Yankees fan, and he greatly enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. NASCAR races, driving trucks, and antique cars were his favorite hobbies.
Also surviving are a daughter: Nicole Sikorski and husband Brian; a son: Eugene Sikorski; four grandchildren: Andrew and Alex Hatton and Brady and Shawn Cowett; a brother: David Sikorski and wife Judy; nieces: Megan Slather and Lindsey Murthland; and nephews: Adam and Michael Sikorski.
The funeral will be Friday, March 19th with services at 10 am in the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park Veterans' Section, Elmhurst. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 pm.
