Daniel J. Saam, 70, of Pleasant Mount, died Tuesday June 22nd at home following an illness. He is survived by his wife, the former Marianne Lacek.
Born in Sydney, NY, he was the son of the late John Henry and Lillian Alberta Howard Saam. He was a graduate of Forest City Regional High School. He previously owned and operated his own trucking company, and was currently employed by the Linde Corporation as a Yard Manager and Foreman. Daniel was a former member of the Pleasant Mount Fire Company. He was a hard worker and a devoted father and grandfather. He was very generous to everyone he met and was the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his own back.
Also surviving are two sons: Daniel Saam, Jr. and wife Jennifer, Pleasant Mount; Jason Saam and wife Andera, Clifford Twp; five grandchildren: Amy; Mark; Zoe; Leaha; Colin; 7 sisters: Ruth Carmody and husband David, Thompson; Betty Feyerabend and husband Carl Endicott, NY; Kathy Feyerabend, Sydney, NY; Joan Hall and husband Tim of Pleasant Mount; Sherri Spencer, Hanover Township; Lisa Eltz and husband Philip, Pleasant Mount; Brenda Martin and husband Warren, Pasadena, MD; 6 brothers: Michael Saam and wife Margaret, Greenwood, SC; Gary Saam and wife Joan, Greenwood, SC; John Saam and Wife Ann Marie, Union Dale; Barry Saam and wife Patty, Whitehall, Phil Saam, Union Dale; Randy Saam, Carbondale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Saam; and two sisters: Jackie Thiem and infant Connie Saam.
The family will hold a Celebration of Daniel’s Life at a later date. Funeral arrangements are by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
