Dolores M. Lapera, 97, passed peacefully in the comfort of her home in Carbondale on January 11, 2024. She was the widow of John B. Lapera, who passed away in July 1977.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Frank J. and Rose M. Tomaine Comeno, she was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. Dolores and John built their family home together on the former site of the William Penn grade school that she attended as a child.

She loved hosting Christmas holidays for extended family at her home. She was a faithful member of Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Carbondale. There she was part of a weekly meal ministry the parish offered for the community.
Prior to retirement, she served as the President and CEO of Race Builders, Inc. after her husband’s untimely death. Later she worked in the Office of Lapera Oil Company in Carbondale.
The Family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Miss Karen McLaughlin her devoted caregiver, to wonderful relatives and very special friends of both John and Rick, to Dr. Matthew Haley, and to the staff from Traditional Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
