Donald L. “Cricket” Christina, 77, of Forest City, died Friday June18th at home. His wife is the former Lourdes Sheroshek; the couple had been married for 55 years.
Born in Vandling, son of the late Joseph and Marjorie Brown Christina, he was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City. He was educated in Vandling Schools and he graduated from Forest City High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Prior to retirement, he was employed by RCA/Thompson Consumer Electronics, Dunmore. Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also greatly enjoyed riding his motorcycles; but above all else, he loved his grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed spending time with them, and they were the greatest joy of his life. He also loved and enjoyed being with his close friends, Kimberly and Chrissy Piatkowski.
The family would like to thank the nurses of Traditional Hospice for the excellent care given to Donald, as well the compassion and caring that they showed to the entire family.
Also surviving are a son: Mark Christina and wife Kindra, Waymart; a daughter: Lynn Hall, Hallstead; seven grandchildren: Kayla Gyle and husband Brian; Rachel and Emily Christina; Mark Christina, Jr.; Nikolai and Kassi Hall; Randi Leslie; eight great-grandchildren: Karter, Karson, Jasper, and Jason Gyle; Blakely and Ava Baker; Richie and Robbie Leslie; two sisters: Ann Wagner, Vandling; Jean Zigon, Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Kathryn Costanzo and Joan Greenlaw; and a brother: Joseph Christina.
The funeral will be Friday, June 25th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware St., Forest City. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call Friday at the church, from 9:30 am until mass time. Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
