Donald Natishak, 80, of Forest City, died Thursday April 8th at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Mary Dolores “Pearl” Struss Natishak.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Michael and Christine Figel Natishak, he was a member of Saint John’s Byzantine Church, Forest City. A graduate of Forest City High School, he was a US Marine Corps veteran. Prior to retirement, he was employed in the cafeteria at the Forest City Regional School District and previously as an accounts receivable clerk at T.W. Communications. He had also previously worked at the Clover Farm Dairy. In his healthier days, Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being an active member of the Browndale Sportsman’s Club. He loved playing the card game Horse and Pepper, gardening, especially his tomato plants, and attending local youth sporting events.
The family would like to thank the staffs at both Ellen Memorial Health Care Center and the Gino Merli Veterans’ Center for the excellent and compassionate care given to Donald.
Surviving are a daughter: Chris Giles and husband Edwin, Waymart; five grandchildren: Michelle “Shelley” Giles; Scott Giles and companion Doria; Matthew Giles; Jeffrey Natishak; Jennifer Natishak and companion Matt; two sisters: Romayne Romyn, Dunmore; Pauline Shager, Union Dale; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son: Danny Natishak; three brothers: Michael and Joseph Natishak; Joseph Mihelc; two sisters: Tootsie Johnson; Joan Heller.
Private funeral services will be held in Saint John’s Byzantine Church, Forest City with interment in Saint John’s Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call on Sunday April 11th from 2 to 5 pm at the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
