Donald M. Stone

Donald M. Stone, 93, of Thompson, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday February 2, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Barbara Wilkins, who died July 5, 2018; the couple was married in the Ararat Methodist Church and had been married for 71 years.

Born in Susquehanna, son of the late Myrl and Cecile Dickson Stone, he was a member of the Thompson United Methodist Church.  He served for 48 years as an Ararat Township Supervisor.  Donald spent his life working on the family farm and was known as being a handyman who could fix anything.

The family would like to thank Dr. B. Patel and the nurses and staff at the Barnes-Kasson Skilled Nursing Facility for the compassionate care given to Donald.

Surviving are his six children: Myrl (Carol); Lorraine (Dennis) Anderson; Warren (Tootsie); Janice (Robert) McCorkle; Donna (Richard) Passetti; and Glenn; a daughter-in-law: Deneen Stone; 14 grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a son: Keith Stone; four brothers: Everett, Oscar, Paul, and Elston Stone; and two sisters: Elizabeth Sheldon and Helen Stone.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 21st at 12 noon in the Thompson United Methodist Church. Burial in the Ararat Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the church form 11 am until service time.  Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
