Dorothy L. Miley Obituary

Dorothy L. Miley, 106, of Carbondale, died Tuesday December 9th at home.  She was the widow of Arthur Miley, who died in 1978.


Born on Long Island, NY, daughter of the late Louis and Catherine Conlin Timmermans, she was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  At the outbreak of World War II, she worked at a radio shop in New York, making radios for the war effort.  After marrying Arthur and having their children, the family moved to Carbondale.  Dorothy was a loving mother and wife to her family.  She was a talented seamstress who did work for Calabro’s Dress Shop and for neighbors and friends.  She also made numerous altar cloths for area churches.


Surviving are a daughter: Maria L. Miley, Carbondale; two daughters-in-law: Ruth Miley, Carbondale; Marilyn Miley, Tannersville; six grandchildren: Arthur, Jeffrey, Maribeth, and Wesley Miley; Jacqueline Predmore; Michael Miley; nine great grandchildren: Ryan, Aidan, Connor, and Catherine Miley; Trace and Holden Predmore; and Owen, Asher, and Flynn Miley; a sister-in-law: Gail Corrado and husband Raymond, Long Island, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.


She was also preceded in death by two sons: Leroy and Raymond Miley; and four brothers: Louis, William, Raymond, and Richard Timmermans.


The funeral will be Tuesday, December 16th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.  Friends may call at the church Tuesday morning from 11 am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
