Edward Leo Russo, 69, of Carbondale, died Sunday July 24th at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He is survived by his wife, the former Lisa Cabarrubias.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Leo and Gladys Gilman Russo, he was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and a former member of the Lions Club.
Ed graduated from East Haven High School in Connecticut. Long before he received a diploma he went to work for his father. Ed owned a candy store in Connecticut before moving to Carbondale.
He worked at a few places in the area but is best remembered as the “Pizzaman”. He worked and later operated the business along Church Street for the better part of 25 years. He later opened Russo’s Pizzeria in Forest City before retirement.
Also surviving are a son: Leo Russo, Throop; a daughter: Josephine Nicholson and husband Jamie, Carbondale; a granddaughter: Reagan Bishop-Russo, Richmondale; two sisters: Kathy Russo and Cheryl Little; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Russo.
The funeral will be Monday, August 1st with a Blessing Service at 6 pm in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale. Friends may call Monday from 4 pm until service time.
