Elizabeth A. Stanton, 87, of Lake Ariel and formerly of Carbondale and Toms River, NJ, died Wednesday March 5th at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. She was the widow of James O. Stanton, who died August 11, 2003.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Paul and Eleanor McDonald Conmy, she attended St. Rose School, Carbondale. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a meter maid in Essex County, NJ and Ocean County, NJ.
Surviving are three sons: Gary and wife Debra; James, Jr. and wife Laura; and Francis; a daughter: Katie Occhipinti; eight grandchildren: Gary, Jr.; Tara; James, III; Joseph, Jesse; Kelli; Nicole; and Brittney; six great grandchildren: Kellan; Margo; Keegan; Gary, III; Gavint and Luca; a sister: Cathy DelRosso; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Elizabeth Reeves; a brother: Robert Conmy; and two sisters: Maureen Mulhare and Carol Nigro.
The funeral will be Tuesday March 11th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call at the church from 9 am until mass time.
