Eric Richard Allen

Eric Richard Allen, 48, of Scott Twp., died Monday August 28th at Geisinger CMC after a lengthy illness.  He is survived by his companion, Susan Koerner.

Born in Carbondale, son of Gary Richard and Mary Jane Short Allen, Greenfield Twp., he was a graduate of Lakeland High School, Class of 1993.  He was currently employed as the Assistant Plant Manager for Westlake Plastics, Mayfield. Eric enjoyed baseball, football, dirt bike racing, quads, and motorcycles.  He loved tending to his farm.

Eric was well liked by many people and had such an energetic personality, and he enjoyed getting creative, no matter what he was working on.  He will be deeply missed by all.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff in the ICU at GCMC for their compassionate care of Eric and their thoughtfulness towards his family.

In addition to his parents and companion, also surviving are two daughters: Erica Allen, Hughesville; Kiya Allen, at home; a step-daughter: Seanna Koerner, at home; three siblings: Richard Gary Allen, Jermyn; Nicole Vallone and husband Rich, Hop Bottom; Jeremy Allen, Greenfield Twp.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Lester and Lovilla Short; paternal grandparents: Thomas and Catherine Allen; and several aunts and uncles.

The funeral will be Friday September 1st in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale with services at 7 pm to be celebrated by Pastor Jay Best.  Friends may call Friday, from 4 to 7 pm.
