Francis G. Gardus

Francis G. “Fran” Gardus, 68, of Simpson, died Monday August 17th.

Born in Carbondale, son of Francis X. Gardus, Carbondale, and the late Roberta Sanderson Gardus, he was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale.  He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Class of 1975.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed as maintenance man at the Carbondale Area School District.  He was previously employed by Stafursky Paving as a concrete finisher.

Fran always lived his life to the fullest; making friends with everyone he came across.  He loved spending time walking his dog Buddy and taking him for a ride in the truck.  He loved cooking and going out with his friends to all the local restaurants.  Most of all, Fran loved spending time with all of his kids and doing anything they asked of him.

The family would like to thank Andy Gorel and Jerry Tregaskis for all of their help when Fran needed it the most.

Surviving are a son: Benjamin Gardus and wife Niki, West Hollywood, CA; two daughters: Audrey Gardus and fiancé Kirk Fallon; and Sadie Gardus, both of Carbondale; a sister: Judy Kowalewski and husband John, Forest City; a brother: David Gardus and wife Dottie, Richmondale; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday, August 21st with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.  Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
