Francis “Frank” Michael Price, 82, of Carbondale, died Friday October 6th at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife, the former Bonnie Lally.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late John and Frances Dolph Price, he was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Class of 1959, Carbondale, and a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard, 109th Infantry. For over half his life, Frank was a part owner and head baker at Carbondale’s Barbours Bakery on Salem Avenue, making baked goods that hundreds of Northeastern Pennsylvanians and others loved and came back for time and time again. This was his main passion and he dedicated his life’s worth to making the bakery a major success all these years. Francis also loved landscaping; over the years, he provided his services to many clients throughout the area. Earlier in his career, he also worked at Sugarmans Department Store, Eynon, and Chamberlain Manufacturing, Scranton. Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Carbondale Council. He greatly enjoyed gardening and golfing. He was also an avid sports fan and would often watch games on TV, especially baseball and the Dodgers.
Also surviving are his four children: Francis Price and wife Genevieve; Maureen Cook and husband Anthony; John Price and wife Sue; Jennifer Price-Kane and husband Mike; twelve grandchildren: Shawn VanNort and wife Crystal; Philippe and Gabriel Boni-Price; Abby Cook and fiancé Doug Bliar; Janet and Deane Cook; John Price and wife Morgan; Zack Price; Kayla Price and fiancé Gunnar Hubbard; Zoe Nagle; and Maggie and Paisley Kane; several great grandchildren; two step-children: Heather Wisnefski; Jeff Wisnefski and wife Maura; six step-grandchildren: Victoria, Molly, and Keegan Reynolds; Sadie, Scarlet, and Dylan Wisnefski; his former wife, Janet Price; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: John and Joseph Price.
The funeral will be Thursday October 12th from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call Wednesday, from 4 to 7 pm.
