Frank R. Comeno, 92, of Philadelphia, died Saturday morning, April 15th at home.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Frank J. and Rose M. Tomaine Comeno, he was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and the McCarrie School of Dental Technology, Philadelphia. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a dental technician for Axelrod Dental Labs, Philadelphia. After retirement, he worked for over 25 years at Lore’s Chocolates, Philadelphia. He loved family and enjoyed returning to Carbondale for holidays and summer vacations while staying at his parents’ home, which he treasured. He traveled world-wide with family and friends.
Surviving is a sister: Dolores M. Lapera, four nephews: Rev. John M. Lapera; Richard J. Lapera; Joseph Comeno; Mark Comeno. Two nieces: Lynn Ray; Anne Gardner (Brinton) Grandnieces and grandnephews: Brook Comeno; Keith Comeno; Daniel Dowd; Richard Dowd; David Dowd; Dr. Courtney Ray; Serina Gardner; Valina Gardner; Dr. Heather Dowd; Alicia Dowd; Rebecca Brogan. He is also survived by cousins: Stewart Chandler; Robert Tomaine; Thomas Tomaine; James Tomaine and his friend Stephen Schaff.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Violet Comeno; Theresa Dowd (Daniel); Marie Dellapenta (Leonard); a brother: Joseph Comeno (Victoria); a nephew: Dr. Daniel Dowd (Barbara) and cousins Joseph Tomaine; Louis Tomaine; Terese Wagner.
Frank was a member of Saint Patrick’s Church, in the center of Philadelphia. At his request, a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated with family at the Church of Saint Gregory, Clarks Green. His nephew, Rev. John M. Lapera was the presider. Interment followed at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
