Frederick D. Gillette, 39, of Carbondale, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of Tracie Tregaskis O’Connor of Carbondale and the late Frederick M. Gillette, and the step-son of Keith O’Connor of Carbondale. Frederick spent many years working in the construction industry and was also a self-employed painter. He took pride in his work and was known for his keen eye for detail.
He loved sports, especially football, and was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots. One of his greatest joys was sharing that passion with his three sons, proudly passing on his love of sports and turning them into big fans as well. The time they spent together watching games, talking sports, and cheering on their teams was something he truly cherished.
He shared a very special bond with the women in his life—his mother, grandmother, and sister. Frederick had a big heart and cared deeply for his family. He was well known for the playful banter he shared with everyone. He is now resting peacefully with his father. Above all, he loved his children and enjoyed spending time with them.
Surviving are his three children, Landen, Levin, and Lennox Gillette; a sister, Stephanie Gillette and her partner, Stephen Baronski; a step-brother, Stephen O’Connor; a step-sister, Courtney O’Connor; his niece and goddaughter, Asilynn Gillette; a niece, Harper O’Connor; his maternal grandmother, Carol Ohmnacht; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Private funeral services were held through Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
