George Bird Obituary

George J. Bird, 84, of Forest City, died Friday April 19th at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale.

Born in Little Ferry, NJ, son of the late George and Violet Searles Bird, Sr., he was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Forest City.  He was a 1960 graduate of Forest City High School.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the maintenance department for several local manufacturers.  He was a member of the Mount Hermon Lodge 472 of the Free and Accepted Masons, Union Dale, where he served as Past Master.  He was also a Commandery of Knights Templar.  George enjoyed gardening and tending to his property outdoors.

Surviving are two sisters: Emily Masler, Union Dale; Violet Mucic, Browndale; one nephew: Elmer Masler; two nieces: Christina Scarfo; and Emily Ott.
He was also preceded in death by a niece: Darlene Masler.

The funeral will be Saturday May 11th with services at 10am in Christ Episcopal Church, 700 Delaware St., Forest City.  Interment, George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.  Friends may call at the church form 9:30 am until service time.  Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
