On Tuesday January 7, 2025, George J. Hobbs, 79, of Carbondale, passed away surrounded by his favorite girls. A lot of hearts broke that day but those who knew him best know he is now spending his eternal days on an endlessly sunny beach with a Miller Lite and cigarette in his hand. George was known for his kind heart, dirty jokes, and love of pranks. He was always teaching his kids something new, like how to drink out of the sink like that cat, that it's okay to color on the walls, and that breakfast should have extra chocolate syrup and sprinkles. George was loved by so many. His family and friends who he considered to be family would say he was a hero. One last parting phrase from George, his favorite bedtime story to tell: "I had a ball, I stuck it in the wall and that was the end of the ball! Goodnight"
A celebration of life will be held in the spring, be there or be square.
