Gloria A. Wahy Casey, 83, of Mayfield, died Saturday May 20th at the Carbondale Nursing Home.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Paul and Julia Marchak Wahy, she was a faithful woman who said the rosary daily and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale. Prior to retirement, she was employed at Gentex Corp., Simpson. Earlier in her career, she worked at several dress factories in Mayfield and Childs, and at Adams Cable, Carbondale for several years. She enjoyed going on cruises and trips to Atlantic City. She also enjoyed cooking for everyone and making pierogies. She was the most happy when there was a crowd around.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Carbondale Nursing Home and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kind and compassionate care. Her family will miss her dearly.
Surviving are a son: Thomas A. Casey and companion Mary Krutz, both of Mayfield; two daughters: Alice Griebel and companion Frank Molinaro, both of Carbondale; and Peggy Phillips and husband James, Scott Twp.; a brother: Paul Wahy, Jr. and wife Karen, Melbourne, FL; a sister: Joan Scalia, Carbondale; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday May 26th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Private interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. As per her request, there will be no public visitation. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
