Isabel C. Yanchek, 89, of Mechanicsburg, died Monday November 6th at home with her family at her side. She was the widow of Stephen P. Yanchek, Jr., who died in 1999.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Thomas J. and Helen Carden Neary, she was a devout catholic who was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Mechanicsburg. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, both of Carbondale. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a registered nurse at Our Lady of Peace Residence, Dunmore and the Scranton State Hospital. Isabel had a devotion to the rosary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren; she looked forward to watching daily mass on EWTN.
Surviving are two daughters: Maureen Yanchek Elliott and Amy Yanchek, both of Mechanicsburg; a son: Stephen M. Yanchek and wife Victoria, Archbald; five grandchildren: Stephanie, Gracie, Karoline, Samuel, and Sophia; three sisters: Rose Marie Pauken, Ohio; Jean Hoppel, Kingston; Joan Scavo, Carbondale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother: Fred Neary; four sisters: Helen Munley; Margaret Klikus; Edith Mae Lomeo; and Ann Didato.
The funeral will be Friday November 10th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment will follow in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call at the church from 9 am until mass time. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
