James Daniels, 69, of Carbondale, passed away on Tuesday, January 22nd. He was the devoted husband of Marilynn Sever Daniels for 45 years; they were high-school sweethearts since 1966.
The son of the late John and Mary Nolan Daniels, Jim was a 1967 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. Following graduation, he earned an LPN degree and license from Scranton School District Nursing Program and began his career at Scranton State and Community Medical Center hospitals in Scranton. After earning his B.S. Degree in Business from Lackawanna College and the University of Scranton , he blended his nursing education with his new position of Materials Manager at CMC for 18 years. This job led him to managing positions in State College, Virginia, Arizona, Florida, and later returning him to geriatric nursing before retirement.
Jim was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed reading, gardening, and most of all woodworking where he spent most of his time making gifts for family and friends from his own creations. He had an endlessly generous heart, and would go above and beyond to be there for family and friends. He was most proud when playing Santa Claus, donning his red suit adorned with his authentic flowing white locks and beard, and bringing pleasure to family and friends during many Christmas seasons.
In addition to his loving wife, Jim is survived by his three sons, Kevin of Schenectady, NY, Patrick of Boalsburg, and Steven and wife Samira of Knoxville, TN. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Anthony, Jakob, James, Claire, Kacandra and great-grandson, Aidan. He is survived by his brothers, Gerard of Ocala, FL, Joe and wife Marcy, and Paul and wife Connie of Carbondale, and a sister Dianne and companion Stan, Dickson City, and several nieces and nephews.
