James Moore Obituary

James J. Moore, affectionately known as “Goop” or “Tiger”, 85, of Carbondale, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 21st at home surrounded by his loving daughter, Bonnie, and caring son-in-law, Fran.  His wife was the former Yvonne “Bonnie” Walsh Moore, who succumbed to heart disease on August 29, 1996, their anniversary.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late James and Mary Wengrzynek Moore, he was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.  James was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Gentex Corporation, Simpson.  James was a member of the Moxie Club, American Legion Post 221, and the Columbia Hose Company #5, all of Carbondale.  Besides being an avid golfer, he loved being with his friends, fishing at Black Lake, vacationing in Florida, playing cards, and throwing back a few beers at a local bar.  Jim loved his daughter Bonnie, and he took great joy in all of her accomplishments in life.

The family would like to thank Traditional Home Care, especially Angela and Theresa, and Compassionate Care, especially Mary Ellen, Erin, Tamara, Bobby, Kelly, Maria, Linda, Brian, and Dr. Ramos, for the compassionate care provided to Jim.  The family would like to also thank Dr. Neal Davis and staff for their many years of care as Jim’s physician.
