James A.”Tippie” Tolan, 69, of Carbondale, died Wednesday November 19th at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton.

Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late John C. and Georgette Bujake Tolan. Jim was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale and a 1973 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. He was an avid golfer and was a member of several golf leagues and the Elk View Country Club. He was the owner of the James A. Tolan Tax Services, Carbondale.

Surviving are a sister: Mary Helen Tolan; a brother: Jack Tolan, both of Carbondale; a sister-in-law: Sylvia Tolan, Havertown; a niece: Leslie Tolan, San Diego; and a nephew: James Tolan, Philadelphia.

He was also preceded in death by a sister Betty Ann Tolan and a brother Thomas Tolan.

The funeral will be Monday, November 24th, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Private interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.  Friends may call Monday morning at the church from 9 am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
