Janice Wright Obituary

Janice Morgan Wright, 81, of the Carbondale area, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 14, 2026, at Geisinger Community Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Robert J. Wright, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and adventure.

Born in 1944 to the late Merle and Sally McHale Morgan, Janice was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School Class of 1962. She remained close with her classmates throughout her life, always looking forward to her regular lunches with the "62 Girls."

Janice was the longtime Office Manager for the Physician Health Alliance, where her organizational skills and professional warmth were a mainstay until her retirement. Her faith was central to her life; she was one of the longest-standing members, as well as a board member, of the Berean Baptist Church in Carbondale. She also served as the church Secretary for several years, Moderator and member of the choir.

An active woman with a creative soul, Janice found joy in many forms. She was a gifted crafter who spent countless hours knitting and crocheting, often creating cherished pieces for those she loved. When she wasn't busy with her needles, she could often be found lost in the pages of a Debbie Macomber novel, drawn to the same themes of family, friendship, and community that she cultivated in her own life.

She enjoyed the competition and camaraderie of the Forest City Women’s Golf League. Janice and Bob were frequent adventurers on their motorcycle and shared a deep love for cruising. While she cherished their annual family pilgrimages to Myrtle Beach, she was famously less enthusiastic about the many family vacations to Canada—a family detail shared with an affectionate smile.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Progressive Care Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center and the Carbondale Nursing Home for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Janice and her family.

In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by her sister Diane Thayer, Carbondale; her children Jeffrey Wright and wife Patricia, Union Dale; Stephen Wright and wife Cori, Scranton; and Lynne Rusin and husband Damian, Fell Twp.;. her grandchildren: Corey Wright; Morgan Wright and fiancé Kyle Segal; Chelsea Galea and husband Nick; Jenna Boyd and husband Justin; Alex Lucchesi; Dylan Wright and significant other Kristine Lewis; Karsyn Wright and significant other Alyssa Butler; Mariah Amacio; and Brandon Rusin and significant other Courtland Cardinale; her great grandchildren: Adriana Wright; Sam Galea; Parker and Quinn Boyd;  Adilyn and Emersyn Kuehner; and Damian Amacio; a sister-in-law: Dorothea Ryan, Yorktown, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday March 20th with services at 10 am in the Berean Baptist Church, 33 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, celebrated by Pastor Deborah Loessy.  Interment will follow at East Canaan Cemetery.  Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, and on Friday morning at the church from 9 am until service time.
