Jean Ann Black

Jean Ann Black, 73, of Mayfield, entered into eternal rest on July 28th, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn D. Black, who passed away February 13th, 2026, as well as her sisters, Kim and Melissa.

Born in Sidney, New York, in 1952, Jean was the eldest of four daughters to the late Kenneth and Joanne Farrell Yakmovitz. Her family eventually relocated to Jermyn, where she would meet the love of her life and best friend, Glenn.

After marrying Glenn, Jean worked for a short time at RCA and then obtained her real estate license. She worked for both Alice Vanston and James Nasser real estate agencies and eventually earned her broker’s license. With her hard work and reputation, she eventually became an independent real estate appraiser/broker.  Jean Ann loved her husband, children, family and friends dearly.  She was a dedicated daughter to both of her parents and took great care of them during their elder years.  Throughout the years, and until her illness, she was a faithful member of Sacred Heart of Mary, Jermyn, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Rose of Lima Churches.  Jean Ann wasn't one for hobbies, but she was an avid lover of music, and always would be playing it in her home and enjoyed playing the piano on occasion. She also enjoyed going to Atlantic City and Mohegan Sun Casinos, playing the slot machines.  More than anything, she truly enjoyed just being in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family and sipping on a nice glass of port wine.

Our family would like to give special recognition and thanks to her sister-in-law, Sue Black, who took great care of Jean Ann over the last five months after Glenn’s passing.

Jean Ann is survived by her loving children, Alison Rafter and husband, Schawn, Jessup; Ryan, and wife, Darlene, East Petersburg, PA; and Chad, and wife, Denise, of Throop. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Duprey, and husband Bob, of Enfield, Connecticut, her five grandchildren: K.C., Carly, Mackenzie, Gianna, and Jenna, many nieces and nephews, and her brothers and sisters-in-law.

The funeral will be Friday, July 31st, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.  Friends may call Friday, at the church, from 9 am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
