Jean Marie Christina Zigon, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 2nd as a resident at the Forest City Nursing Home.  She was previously a resident of Vandling, Forest City, and Carbondale. Her husband, William F. Zigon, preceded her in death in November 1998.

Born in Vandling, daughter of the late Joseph and Marjorie Brown Christina, she was a 1954 graduate of Forest City Regional High School.  Upon graduation, she and her twin sister, Joan traveled to various locations including Atlantic City and Florida to work at resorts; loving the adventures and excitement of traveling the East Coast.  Returning to Forest City, she met and married her husband, working side by side with him at his home business, Zigon's Kielbasi, Lackawanna Street, Forest City, until their retirement.  She was a lifelong member of the former St. Agnes Church in Forest City.  Following the death of her husband, she moved to Carbondale in 1999 and became a member of St. Rose of Lima Church.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed being outside; going for walks, trips to the Casino, going out for dinner and seeing the Christmas Iights every year.  She was always up for a good adventure alongside her family.  At the end of every day, she would recount the stories of past times and always ended it by saying “It's a Great Life!"  She truly lived life to the fullest, enjoyed every day, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to express a heartfelt Thank You to the Nurses and Staff at the Forest City Nursing Home for the exceptional care and love they provided Jean over the last few years.

Jean is survived by a son: Carl Zigon and his wife, Mary Twilley Zigon, Browndale; a granddaughter: Dionna Zigon, Browndale; a great grandson (and the apple of her eye: Jakob Bock; a sister: Ann Wagner, Vandling; sisters-in-law: Lourdes Christina, Browndale; Mary Zigon, Forest City; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her Grandson: Daniel Zigon; two sisters: Kay Costanzo and Joan Greenlaw; as well as two brothers:  Joseph and Donald "Cricket" Christina.

The funeral will be Wednesday, January 8th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saint Joseph’s Church, Delaware St., Forest City.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Forest City.  Friends may call at the church from 10 am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
