Jeffrey G. Mead

Jeffrey G. Mead, 59, of Union Dale, passed away Friday, July 22nd at his home.

Born in Hancock, NY, son of the late Tracy and Joyce Ross Mead, he attended school in Hancock, NY.  Jeff enjoyed volunteering at the East Ararat Methodist Church for their many functions.  He was an avid reader, and he loved old Western movies, particularly John Wayne.  Jeff loved hunting, yard sales, and researching family history.  Most of all, Jeff loved his family, especially his children: His daughter Anne and son-in-law Todd Hadden, and his son Jeff and daughter-in-law: Casey Mead.

In addition to his children, he is survived by three sisters: Debra Mead; Kathy Price; Pamela Lacek and husband John; a brother: Tracy Mead and wife Margaret; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  He also absolutely adored his grand-pups: Luna, Nox, and Gizmo.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Sunday, August 14th at the East Ararat Methodist Church, with services at 3 pm.  Friends may call from 2pm until service time.  Funeral arrangements are through the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jeff’s honor be made to the Amputee Coalition at amputee-coalition.org or to a local animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
