Joanne Casey Rucker, 91, of Newton Lake, died Tuesday June 18th at home. She was the widow of Karl J. Rucker, who died June 30, 2018.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Frank P. and Mary Murray Casey, she was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale, and she attended Drexel University. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Bell Telephone Co. of Pennsylvania in Upper Darby. She was a member of the Communications Workers of America, serving as President of her local union. She was also a member of the Carbondale News Club. She loved cheering for Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles. She loved her family and always enjoyed a good party.
Surviving are a son: Karl Rucker and wife Kim, Newton Lake; a son-in-law: Jeffery Wallis, Newton Lake; four grandchildren: Karl Rucker, Jr. and wife Torre; Katie Cobb and husband Dylan; Madison Rucker; and Hunter Wallis; a brother Frank Casey and wife Eileen, New Hope; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Nancy Rucker Wallis; and a sister: Mary Frances Kelly.
The funeral will be Saturday, June 22nd with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call at the church, from 9 am until mass time. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
