Joanne M. Yakmovitz, 91, of Jermyn, died Sunday November 26th at the Carbondale Nursing Center. She was the widow of Kenneth J. Yakmovitz, who died September 4, 2013.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret Martin Farrell, she was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, Jermyn. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, both of Carbondale. For several years, she was employed by Interior Decorators as a home decorator. She was a wonderful mother who loved having company over her home and cooking for them.
Surviving are three daughters: Jeanann Black and husband Glen, Mayfield; Kim Mannion and husband Michael, Mayfield; Carol Duprey and husband Robert, Enfield, CT; nine grandchildren: Alison Rafter; Ryan and Chad Black; Michael and Lauren Mannion; Yves Rovito-Duprey; Abrianna, Avery, and Syeed Duprey; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter: Melissa; a sister: Margaret McDonald; and two brothers: James and William Farrell.
The funeral will be Thursday November 30th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call at the church from 9 am until mass time. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
