John J. Fortuner Obituary

John J. Fortuner, 66, of Browndale, died Tuesday May 28th at Geisinger CMC, Scranton.


Born in Carbondale, son of the late Michael and Ruth Shuman Fortuner, he was a graduate of Forest City Regional High School.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  At one time, he was employed as a snow technician for Elk Mountain Ski Resort, Herrick Twp.  He was also employed by Franceski Waste Services and Ascension Parish as the caretaker for Saint Anthony’s Cemetery, Forest City.


His family would like to give a special thanks to Jack DeMark and Christ Episcopal Church for their friendship towards Johnny.


Surviving are a brother: Dennis Fortuner, Rural Retreat, VA; two sisters: Joan Jaggers, Forest City; Theresa Mikolon, Union Dale; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


He was also preceded in death by a sister: Susan Pauswinski; and five brothers:  James, Randy, Jerome, Andrew, and Michael Fortuner.


As per his request, private funeral services will be held.  Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
