John J. "Skip" Gardjulis Obituary

John J. “Skip” Gardjulis, 72, of Simpson, died Friday October 10th at Geisinger CMC, Scranton.  He is survived by his wife, the former Ann Marie Shino; the couple would have celebrated their 41st anniversary in December.


Born in Wilkes-Barre, son of the late John and Helen Lewanowicz Gardjulis, he was a member of Nativity BVM, Tunkhannock.  He was a graduate of Hanover Area High School, and he attended the University of Scranton.  Prior to retirement, he was employed as a mechanic for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation at the Clarks Summit Shed; he was previously employed at Doyle and Roth, Simpson and also at Stracham Construction, Waverly.  He was the owner and operator of John’s Service Station, Carbondale.  He was a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 329, Carbondale.  He was the former President of the Grattan Singer Hose Company, Simpson and the Ashley Fire Company.  He was known as a jack of all trades and he was willing to help anyone.  He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his fish pond, and watching birds.


Also surviving are a son: Thomas Gardjulis and wife Jane, Forest City; a daughter: Tracy Druhl, Pleasant Mount; two grandchildren: Gary and Jessica Druhl; and his godmother who raised him: Charlotte Neupauer, Ashley.


He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Gary C. Druhl; and a special uncle: Robert Gardjulis.


The funeral will be Wednesday October 15th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saint Joseph’s Church, Delaware St., Forest City.  Interment will follow at Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Simpson.  Friends may call at the church from 10 am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
