John “Jack” Kacer, 73, of Lake Ariel, died Saturday March 9th at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Linda S. Jennings, who died December 14, 2003.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Peter and Catherine Scheressey Kacer, Sr., he was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. He played football in high school, and he also played for the Scranton Eagles. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Kacer’s Market, Waymart, where he could be found behind the deli counter.
Surviving are two daughters: Jennifer Sinclair-Moore and husband Michael, Lake Ariel; Melinda Kacer, New York, NY; two grandchildren: Kayla Bullock and Austin Phillips; three great grandchildren: Odin and Lincoln Bullock; Anthony Phillips; a sister: Kathy Parise and husband Tom, Lebanon; his first wife and friend: Cathy Loughney Kacer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother: Peter Kacer, Jr.; and a nephew: Kevin Parise.
The funeral will be Thursday, March 14th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Friends may call Thursday at the church from 9 am until mass time. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
