John “Jack” Klein, 68, of Carbondale and formerly of Scranton, died Tuesday August 13th at the Carbondale Nursing Center. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Darlene Biagioni.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Joseph and Margaret McColligan Klein, he was a 1975 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a technician for Barry Callebaut Chocolates, Throop. He had previously worked at Gertrude Hawk Chocolates and Specialty Records. He was also a former auto body repair instructor at the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County. Jack loved woodworking, making outdoor and indoor furniture; he made his granddaughters custom nursery furniture and rocking horse. He was a handyman to anyone who needed assistance, and was literally a “Jack” of all trades. He was an avid deer hunter and would restore and paint cars as a hobby. He had a passion for music, collecting CDs of songs that he loved, and playing his music loud, showing off his dance moves. He was also an avid model train collector, building a large Lionel train layout with his son-in-law in his home. He would spend hours on the meticulous details. He loved his dog Bella, but the true lights of his life were his daughter, Tara, and granddaughter Taylor, who he called his “baby girl”.
Also surviving are his daughter and best birthday present ever, Tara Grove and husband Keith, Cresson; three granddaughters: Taylor Emiliani, Pittsburgh; Natalie Perez, Granite City, IL; Loie Bitler, Muncy; two grandsons: Sterling and Jaxson Grove, Watsontown; two brothers: Joseph Klein and wife Donna, Ohio; Robert “Bobby” Klein, Scranton; two sisters: Margaret “Peggy” Lowe, Dickson City; Cathy Billinski and husband William, Dickson City; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister: Joan Myskowski; and a sister-in-law: Geri Klein.
As per his request, private funeral services will be held. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
