John M. Kovaleski, 83, of Richmondale, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday February 16th at Geisinger Community Medical Center following a period of illness. He was preceded in death by his wife Jo Ann Supancik Kovaleski, who died on January 3, 2021.
Born in Varden, son of the late Albert and Ester Dinkel Kovaleski, he was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City. John was a carpenter by trade and instilled his knowledge of the trade as well as hard work in his family. He loved hunting and fishing and shared that bond with his family for many years. John was a family man and loved spending time surrounded with loved ones sharing laughs and memories.
Surviving are his children: John Kovaleski and wife Sandy, Browndale; Alan Kovaleski and wife Martha, Honey Brook; Mary Carol Spinosi and husband Rick, Jefferson Twp.; Jean Cerra and husband Joe, Kingsley; and Julie Tomlinson, Peckville; grandchildren: Sara Stafford and husband Chris Stafford; Kasey Kovaleski; Joseph Cerra; Amanda Tomlinson and Cody Tomlinson; Samantha Kovaleski and Jeremy Kovaleski; and Victoria and Tyler Spinosi; brothers: Donald and wife Mary; Robert; Tony and wife Ann Marie; sisters: Rosie and Shirley; sister-in-law: Teri Kovaleski; brother-in-law: Frank “Sonny” Supancik and wife Betsy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sons: David and Keith; his siblings: Albert, Esther, Thomas, James, Thelma, Francis, Kenny, Walter, and Daniel Kovaleski; and a sister-in-law: Doreen Moran.
The funeral will be Saturday February 25th from the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Ascension Parish at St. Joseph’s Church, 741 Delaware St., Forest City. Interment, Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call Saturday morning at the funeral home from 8 to 9:30 am.
