John Sorrentino, 65, of Waymart, died Sunday May 26th after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Eileen Conway.
Born in Patterson, NJ, son of the late Gennaro and Pauline Woll Sorrentino, he was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Patterson, NJ. He was a proud US Navy Veteran, and a member of the American Legion Post 889, Waymart, and the Fleet Reserve Association. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a nuclear welder for the General Dynamics Corporation. John loved spending time with his grandchildren and going fishing. His passion was tinkering in his workshop, where he would do woodworking.
In addition to his wife, also surviving are two sons: Christopher Sorrentino and wife Chrystal and John Sorrentino, Jr., all of Waymart; four grandchildren: Jayden Revera; Lillian, Nicholas, and Evan Sorrentino; a brother: Vincent Sorrentio and wife Patricia, Closter, NJ: three sisters: Christine Strumolo and husband Raymond, Toms River, NJ; Josephine Tuscano-Dews and husband Patrick, Denville, NJ; Kathleen Nemerofsky and husband Robert, Denville, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother: Gerald; a sister: Pauline; and his beloved dog, Abigale.
As per his request, a Celebration of John’s Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
