Joseph Stephen Gilliotti Obituary

Joseph Stephen Gilliotti, 82, of Carbondale, died Monday October 24th at Geisinger CMC, Scranton.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Carol Hobbs.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Joseph B. and Mary A. Krezan Gilliotti, he was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.  He was a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard, 109th Infantry, and the United States Army.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Sergeant at SCI Waymart.  Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.  He was an avid New York Giants fan.  He was also a painter, having painted portraits of the many historical buildings in Carbondale.

Also surviving are a daughter: Lisa LaPointe and husband Gary, Kennesaw, GA; three sons: Stephen Gilliotti; David Gilliotti; Mathew Gilliotti and fiancée Angel Rukse, all of Carbondale; seven grandchildren: Tyler LaPointe West and husband Clifton; Alec LaPointe; Gabrielle LaPointe; Reilly LaPointe; Carter LaPointe; Anthony and Angel Gilliotti; two great grandchildren: Kinley LaPointe and Jude West; a sister: Caroline Vogt, Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother: Charles Gilliotti; and a sister: Joyce Linderman.

The funeral will be Saturday, October 29th, with a blessing service at 11 am in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.  Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.  Friends may call Saturday, from 9 am until service time.
