Joseph J. Gosciewski

Joseph J. Gosciewski, 81, of Union Dale, died Thursday September 3rd at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Leo E. and Kathryn Gorel Gosciewski, he was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City.  He was a graduate of Forest City Regional High School and was a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an equipment operator for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.  He was previously employed by Elk Mountain Ski Resort, Herrick Twp., and the IBM Corporation, Binghamton.  He was a partner in the family’s dairy farm for many years.

Surviving are his former wife: Deborah Lance, Union Dale; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers: John and Leo Gosciewski; and two sisters: Joan Smith and Margaret Prezelski.

The funeral will be Tuesday September 8th with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware Street, Forest City.  Interment will follow at Saint James Cemetery, Pleasant Mount.  Friends may call Tuesday morning at the church from 9:30 am until mass time.  Arrangements by the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main Street, Forest City.
