Katherine Irene Daniels

Katherine Irene Daniels, 83, of Carbondale, died Friday February 28th at Geisinger CMC, Scranton.  She is survived by her husband, Earl “Stretch” Daniels; the couple would have celebrated their 61st anniversary this year.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Horatio “Bud” and Catherine Miller Pierce, she was a member of Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.  She was a graduate of Fell Township High School.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Gentex Corp., Simpson; she had been previously employed at Daystom Corp., Eynon.  She liked the beach.  She adored her grandchildren, Peter and Molly.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bekele’s office, especially Theresa Micknick for all of her kindness and compassionate care she has given throughout the years.

Also surviving are two daughters: Kristy Kawash and husband Peter, Mayfield; Donna Marz and husband Todd, Forest City; a son: Earl “Billy” Daniels and wife Holly, Carbondale; several grandchildren including Peter and Molly Kawash; three sisters: Marlene Mihal; Linda Mark; Carol Narcavage; several nieces and nephews; her dog, Rexy; and her cats: Chicky and Lilly.  

She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Shirley Rumford and infant Betty Lou Pierce.

As per her request, private funeral services were held.  Arrangements by the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home, Inc., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale.
